The fishing continues to be above average conditions, above average flows and its hot !! The snow pack is melting in the Sierra sending flows to record highs and filling our waters with much needed runoff. As Pyramid lake slows down with the rising temperatures, and the Eastern Sierra back country continues to thaw, we have been spending a lot of time in the back country local (San Bernardino Mountains) and even on the local lakes. The mosquitos are at an all timer high also, so make sure to bring a net or some good repellant. We use a whitch hazel, lemon grass, eucalyptus, yaro, sage and peppermint blend made from essential oils that works better than DEET and much safer. Contact me for the recipe or to buy some. Keep covered up and also be on the lookout for rattle snakes. We have been getting great reports from Crowley, Grant, Owens, Mc Gee, East Walker, Hot Creek and the Alpine Lakes in the Sierra. Bear Creek, Deep Creek, Lake Gregory and Arrowhead have all put out some big fish recently down south. Patterns are the usual wooly buggers and midges in the still water and streamers or hopper/dropper rigs in the small waters and rivers. We are gearing up for hopper season and tying up tons of large caddis variations as well as leeches and pyramid lake patterns for next season. Temps have been high all over California this week and climbing. Lets hope we keep getting these small thunderstorms and even more snow in the Sierra as we did last week. Mammoth Mountain will be closing early August, which is a good indicator to judge when the waters will settle and the back country will become fully exposed. We have all the gear you need to get them, the info to guide you...whats stopping you? Get out there!
I want to also extend a 20% off discount on guided trips as well as any items posted on our web store. This offer will only last one month and is only available to followers of this BLOG.
